The Leuser Ecosystem is one of the most important areas for tigers, range-wide. Despite covering ~5% of Sumatra’s territory, Leuser contains nearly 20% of the island’s remaining tiger habitat.
One of the main challenges of tiger conservation in Leuser is the ability to efficiently patrol and monitor its expansive, roadless landscapes with inadequate personnel. Patrols, when regularly conducted, send a strong message to poachers that tigers are valued and their habitats are under surveillance.
Your support will help us reach our target of recruiting, training, and mobilizing 40 new rangers in our study area by 2025.
Your generous donation will enable us to conserve the Sumatran tiger and their habitat.
